Its dedication to advancing eye health through research, innovation, and collaboration was reflected in new innovations it presented in myopia management, presbyopia, light management, retinal care and related areas.

In the past year, EssilorLuxottica advanced its transformation into a global med-tech leader, creating a connected, digital, patient-centric vision care journey. The Group expanded its capabilities in diagnostics, treatments, vision correction, and surgical support, aided by the integration of Cellview Imaging Inc, Heidelberg Engineering and Espansione Group. These advancements were showcased at the world’s most influential ophthalmology and vision science conferences, reinforcing its scientific leadership in vision and eye health.

ARVO 2025 – Advancing Evidence-Based Vision Care

At the ARVO Annual Meeting in Salt Lake City, Utah, US, EssilorLuxottica presented major research milestones alongside eight scientific posters spanning myopia, refractive error mechanisms, presbyopia and light management. The R&D team unveiled Essilor Stellest 2.0 lenses, sharing early evidence of significantly greater efficacy in slowing myopic eye growth in children compared to Essilor Stellest lenses.^*1High-impact sessions led by Prof. Mark Bullimore, Dr. Norbert Gorny, the Group’s Chief Scientific Officer and Dr. Björn Drobe—moderated by Olga Prenat, EssilorLuxottica’s Global Head of Medical and Professional Affairs—explored best practices in myopia management, the future of clinical trials and the evolution of paediatric vision care.

Espansione Group delivers the highest medical standards with the photobiomodulation (PBM) technology, the Light Modulation Low-level Light Therapy (LM LLLT), for use in medical fields such as ophthalmology and dermatology, along with the Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) technology. These have been featured in faculty-submitted abstracts, showing solid results in the management of Ocular Surface Diseases (e.g., Dry Eye Disease) and in the modulation of inflammatory markers (e.g., hyperosmolarity). Heidelberg Engineering showcased its latest technologies from SPECTRALIS, ANTERION to HEYEX 2 and engaged with researchers, collaborators and scientists from across the globe. In addition, Heidelberg Engineering together with RetinAI showcased their possibilities at the RetinAI booth.

EAOO 2025 – Sharing Knowledge Among European Eye Care Professionals

At the European Academy of Optometry and Optics (EAOO) Congress in Ljubljana, Slovenia, the Company joined 600+ professionals to discuss paediatric vision, delaying myopia onset, and personalized presbyopia solutions. Key sessions explored optimizing progressive lenses and early myopia management along with real-world results on Ultra-Fast Light-Adaptive Lens technology. Workshops and booth exchanges deepened practitioner engagement and clinical collaboration.

BCLA 2025 – Expanding Clinical Innovation in Vision Care

During the BCLA Conference in Birmingham, UK, attended by more than 1000 participants, EssilorLuxottica reinforced its leadership in myopia management and ocular surface health. The Group presented six-year clinical data on Essilor Stellest lenses, confirming long-term efficacy in slowing myopia progression and axial elongation.² It also highlighted how integrated diagnostic tools can support clinical decision-making in dry-eye management.

EURETINA 2025 – Leading in MedTech and Retinal Innovation

At the European Society of Retina Specialists (EURETINA) Congress in Paris, France, EssilorLuxottica collaborated with Espansione Group, Cellview Imaging, and Heidelberg Engineering to highlight innovations in retinal and refractive care. Scientific symposia drew strong engagement on evolving approaches in ocular management, including next-generation Essilor Stellest 2.0 lenses for myopia management and Light Modulation LLLT (PBM), as a promising novel technique in non-invasive management of Age-related Macular Degeneration (AMD). Heidelberg Engineering’s symposium on “Innovations in Imaging: Transforming Patient Care” by leading experts was well attended and inspired EURETINA attendees. Over four days, more than 10,000 participants attended the conference, with many visiting EssilorLuxottica’s booth to discover Essilor Stellest lenses and med-tech solutions from its partners, further strengthening the Company’s leadership in science-based, collaborative eye care.

WAEH 2025 – Innovation in Hospital-Based Eye Care

For the first time, EssilorLuxottica joined the 19th World Association of Eye Hospitals (WAEH) Annual Meeting in Lausanne, Switzerland, and Paris, France, as Platinum Sponsor. The Company presented its forward-looking scientific vision with a focus on innovation, med-tech excellence, and commitment to global eye health. The booth, powered by Heidelberg Engineering, served as a collaboration hub for leading hospitals, fostering discussions on integrated care and digital diagnostics. These partnerships strengthen their shared mission: advancing ophthalmic care worldwide.

ESCRS 2025 – Advancing Clinical Innovation Across Ophthalmology

At ESCRS 2025 in Copenhagen, Espansione Group showcased state-of-the-art in light therapy through Light Modulation LLLT (PBM) and Optimal Power Energy IPL, building upon the recognition of these techniques in the recently published TFOS DEWS III Report. Beyond Dry Eye Disease, positive results were released on the potential for LM LLLT to manage the ocular microbiome, demodex-associated blepharitis and above in the technology’s potential role as key tear film optimization tool ahead of ocular surgeries. Results were shared through faculty sessions and within the InSight Speech Series initiative, a daily lineup of live scientific conversations featuring global leaders in eye health.

As part of the World Society of Paediatric Ophthalmology & Strabismus (WSPOS) Subspecialty Day, EssilorLuxottica shared new clinical insights in myopia management, and highlighted clinical trial results on Essilor Stellest 2.0 lenses. Ahead of ESCRS, the Company contributed insights on myopia efficacy and innovation at the Ophthalmology Futures Forums, reinforcing its commitment to advancing the future of ophthalmology.

Heidelberg Engineering at APVRS 2025 – Next-generation ophthalmic visualization

Heidelberg Engineering will participate in the upcoming Asia-Pacific Vitreo-Retina Society (APVRS) Congress in Manila, the Philippines, highlighting advances in imaging, visualization and clinical decision-making for vitreoretinal specialists. The meeting will unite global experts to exchange insights and support future innovation in retinal diagnostics and surgical planning.

These include the American Academy of Optometry conference (Academy 2025 Boston), the International Myopia Society (IMS) meeting in Singapore, the General Meeting of Japan Myopia Society, the Asia-Pacific Academy of Ophthalmology (APAO) conference in India, the European Society of Ophthalmology (SOE) Congress, European Vision & Eye Research (EVER) conference in Italy and other ophthalmology congresses.
