The legendary appeal of Versace’s Medusa Biggie glasses
3 min read

Iconic and immortal, the Medusa Biggie glasses are a timeless Versace classic. First popularized in the 1990s by rapper Notorious B.I.G., who wore them at all times, they still preserve their original charm.

Featured in the latest Versace Spring/Summer collection, these acetate sunglasses have been styled in bright shades, capturing the mood of the runway. Gold metal details also embellish the optical models and the new, oversized metal shapes.

The faces of the new collection are Emily Ratajkowski and Maluma, two celebrities whose personalities fully embody the brand’s dynamism and boldness. Photographed by Mert Alas and Marcus Piggot, the two stars reflect Versace’s characteristic gritty style through a series of powerful images.

All of the models in the collection feature the iconic Medusa Biggie medallion, revisited in various ways and applied to seven new frames that ensure it remains glamorous and eye-catching.

The models worn by Emily Ratajkowski range from more classic shapes to on-trend new interpretations of the famous eyewear. Shots from the campaign capture the supermodel wearing a feminine pair of oversized glasses and a metallic reinterpretation of the original model in a metallic version with a geometric shape. Another frame stands out for its elegant design enriched with a medallion on the temples dotted with crystals.

Singer Maluma wears a seductive and contemporary pair of pilot sunglasses and an acetate unisex model, which catches the eye thanks to its thick and irregular silhouette.

The optical frames worn by the stars of the collection are both unisex models. The first, which features an oversized metal silhouette, reflects Versace's power of expression to the fullest, thanks to its contemporary design and irregular lines. The second model is an optical reinterpretation of the original Medusa Biggie that preserves its acetate frame and irregular silhouette.
