EssilorLuxottica is proud to have had a meaningful year of progress in addressing myopia, with important efforts and activities that spanned the globe, including partnerships, participation in key conferences, scientific contributions and much more.

Advancing Scientific Research and Innovation:

As part of its strategy to disseminate the latest scientific evidence and showcase thought leadership in myopia, EssilorLuxottica actively participated in key international conferences, including ARVO, IMC, EAOO and WCPOS. At several of these events, the Group presented promising results that over a five-year period, myopia progression was two times slower on average with Essilor Stellest lenses.^**1 It also continued to advance fundamental science with new research and collaborated with international experts to share findings that spectacle lenses with highly aspherical lenslets (HAL), when worn for more than 30 hours per week, have the potential to slow axial elongation in pre-myopic children^***2, potentially delaying myopia onset.

Expanding Access to Myopia Solutions:

The Group expanded its range of Essilor Stellest lenses*, introducing options with sun tints for protection from sunlight. Its range of clear lenses for myopia management was also extended, ensuring more young myopic patients can benefit from them.

Reinforcing Relationships with Leading Myopia Organizations:

Tackling myopia together, EssilorLuxottica reinforced its ongoing collaborations in 2024 with leading global myopia organizations, including the International Myopia Institute (IMI), Myopia Profile, Review of Myopia Management (RMM) and the World Society of Paediatric Ophthalmology and Strabismus (WSPOS).

The Group again actively participated in the Global Myopia Awareness Coalition (GMAC), chaired by Olga Prenat, EssilorLuxottica Head of Medical & Professional Affairs, which strengthened global efforts to raise awareness for myopia with the addition of two new associations: the Singapore Optometric Association and Optometry Australia and British Contact Lens Association.

Driving Awareness During Myopia Action Month:

During the month of September, EssilorLuxottica was a Platinum Sponsor of Myopia Action Month led by Myopia Profile, which offered eye care professionals (ECPs) access to an informative online seminar series with the latest advancements in myopia management. Several scientific articles, including key research on Essilor Stellest lenses, were published by Myopia Profile and Review of Myopia Management, featuring findings presented at major conferences like ARVO and IMC 2024.

Supporting ECPs with Education:

Education remains a core part of the Group’s strategy to combat myopia, and it is dedicated to equipping ECPs with best practices so they can provide the best care for their young patients. To support knowledge sharing, the Group recently launched a new three-module course on clinical trial results for Essilor Stellest lenses, combination therapies with atropine and the long-term outcomes of myopia management.

Throughout the year, it continued to provide ECPs with 360° campaigns and in-store materials. Also, the EyeStar Mission Program, which helps fight myopia with a positive approach by empowering children to take ownership of their vision care, was successfully delivered and received very positive feedback.

Moving forward, EssilorLuxottica will continue to build on its momentum in 2025 with more initiatives and activities that support and educate eye care professionals, helping to improve children’s vision health worldwide one step at a time.
