Paris, France (22 September 2026) – EssilorLuxottica is proud to announce significant six-month interim results from an ongoing randomized, double-masked clinical trial in China evaluating Essilor Stellest 2.0 lenses in myopic children. At six months, Essilor Stellest 2.0 lenses achieved treatment effects, compared to single vision lenses, of 0.51 D for myopia progression and 0.21 mm for axial elongation on average. These effects were comparable to those previously reported after 12 months with first-generation Essilor Stellest lenses, indicating a potential accelerated treatment response.†1,2

Notably, with myopia progression remaining close to 0 D on average after six months, spectacle lenses with H.A.L.T.* MAX technology achieved in just half a year the same level of myopia control – on both refraction and axial length – that was previously reported with H.A.L.T.* technology at one year. That means the treatment response appears to be effectively twice as fast. High wearing compliance, rapid adaptation, and consistent efficacy across younger and older children reinforce the practical value of this innovation in myopia control. These findings add important clinical evidence from China to the global body of research on H.A.L.T.* MAX technology,” said Prof. Yang Xiao, Principal Investigator, Zhongshan Ophthalmic Center, Sun Yat-sen University, China.

The six-month interim results were first presented during an EssilorLuxottica satellite symposium at the World Society of Paediatric Ophthalmology and Strabismus (WSPOS) Subspecialty Day, held during the European Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgeons (ESCRS) Congress in London.

Key interim findings included:

Significant slowing of myopia progression and axial elongation on average, compared with single-vision spectacle lenses, with treatment effects of 0.51 D and 0.21 mm respectively.‡1
High wearing compliance, with more than 90% of children in both groups wearing their spectacles for more than 12 hours per day, seven days per week.§
Adaptation and wearer comfort were as good as with single-vision lenses, with 98% of children fully adapting within one week.¶1

The study remains ongoing, with participants continuing to be followed to evaluate longer-term efficacy and safety. The prespecified one-year analysis will serve as the primary efficacy endpoint.‡1

The findings provide the first randomized, double-masked clinical evidence for Essilor Stellest 2.0 lenses from China and are consistent with the clinical performance previously observed in the randomized contralateral crossover clinical trial in Singapore, whose findings were published in Translational Vision Science & Technology in 2025.3 Together, the Singapore and China studies demonstrate consistent clinical performance across study designs, further strengthening the global clinical evidence for Essilor Stellest 2.0 lenses and reinforcing EssilorLuxottica's long-standing commitment to advancing one of the most comprehensive clinical research programs in spectacle lens-based myopia management.
